Introduction:
This document defines the Business Continuity Plan for Lightforce orthodontics, Inc. It includes key members of the Continuity Management Team, the scope of the plan itself. This document also includes the BCP itself, communication plans, both internal and client facing and details to the preparation and training of staff.
Type1: Manufacturing Outage
Type2: Application Outage
Incident Manager - The Incident Manager will manage Implementation and coordination of the BCP, coordinating with SME’s for technical work and communication.
Subject Matter Expert (SME) - SME’s are assigned by department and speciality to manage the technical processes required, depending on the nature of the issue and disaster condition.
Detect and Determine a Disaster Condition:
The detection of an event is the responsibility of whomever first discovers or receives information about an emergency situation developing in one of the functional areas.
Management Team Notification:
Whomever detects the Disaster Condition will engage the Business Continuity Management Team to Initiate the BCP.
Initiation of the Institute’s Business Continuity Plan:
Initiation of this Plan is the responsibility of the Business Continuity Management Team Coordinator or any member of the Business Continuity Management Team.
This section addresses three phases of disaster recovery:
During the Identification Phase, an Identified Disaster Condition is under review to determine the nature of the issue and the optimal path moving forward. The Identification Phase moves into the Restoration Phase. The Business Continuity Management Team has been notified and reviews the nature of the Identified Disaster Condition. The Business Continuity Management Team remains active until recovery is complete.
In the Restoration Phase of the BCP, the goal is to resume processing critical applications and or Manufacturing. This includes, but is not limited to:
failing over to alternate locations for manufacturing/application services
Restoring critical systems via backup or replication
The Recovery Phase begins in parallel with the Restoration Phase. In the Recovery Phase, the goal is to restore normal operations as soon as possible. This includes reverting production systems from the Restoration Phase, back to normal operations.
The Communication Plan covers communication policy regarding execution of the Business Continuity Plan, regarding internal and client facing communications.
Internal Communication:
Once engaged, the Business Continuity Management Team will remain actively engaged until the conclusion of the Recovery Phase and will take ownership of internal communication to corresponding departments.
Client Communication:
Clients can subscribe to and monitor a LightForce Service Status feed.
Client communication will be handled in compliance with the ISO 13485 compliant Quality Notification Policy.
As part of the yearly review of the BCP, Business Continuity Management Team members will review this document.
